Day 5 of our landscape photography tour in N.Z
Saturday April 27th
Skippers Canyon

Today we clung onto the goat track that took us down to Skippers Canyon, definitely 4WD only!!
We stopped at may places on the way, to get some shots of the amazing views, so gorgeous and so peacefully quiet.

This is the scene they call the "upside down elephant"

This is the old settlement at Skippers

The locals don't like the pine trees as they are an introduced species to this area and have been spraying them to kill them off, so that is why there are so many brownish looking trees here.

An old photograph of some of the miners that spent their lives gold mining in this remote area.

Some of the spoils of gold mining have reshaped the land. Notice the top middle of this photo there is a  small gathering of poplar trees, basically wherever you see this there was a house there at some stage.

That afternoon we got back into Arrowtown at around 4ish so had a little bit of time to head down to the Chinese Village and get some arty photographs with my Tilt Shift lens.

Loved this place! Could have spent hours here, but ran out of light!
