Shooting waterfalls - Atherton Tablelands

My nephew has just spent the last 4 years living between various parts of Morocco, Paris and Athens, picking up languages and so much beautiful, rich life experiences! 2 weeks ago he came up to visit FNQ so I took him to visit a few of our beautiful places in the area. Mossman Gorge was first on the list, and did not disappoint, then we stayed up on the lake at Yungaburra for our base to scout out to some of the areas waterfalls. We visited 4 different falls in 2 days and also a couple of craters, Hypipamee and Lake Eacham.

The falls at Hypipamee, Dinner Falls, was easy to get to (though probably wouldn't take my mother) but not as spectacular as the others.
Heaps of flat rocks to sit on and a decent swimming hole, though the water was very murky.
There was someone having a dip and he said you can go in behind the rock face on the far left.

The next day we headed to the Millaa Millaa waterfall circuit, and visited another 3 falls.

Miller Millaa Falls was very easy to get to with about 100 steps down from the car park and had toilet and picnic table facilities. This was the biggest in this area with the largest falls and biggest swim hole.  The only disadvantage was it attracted the most people, so it was fairly crowded when we arrived and therefore the water was quite silty. We spotted heaps of turtles and catfish in the overflow stream, so a great place to take little kids to see these.

Zillie Falls was next on the list, and I'm guessing Cyclone Yasi is probably to blame for the rough goat track to the base. This I would definitely not take my mother down. There is not a lot of room at the base to sit, just a few boulders and no deep swim hole, you just have to be content with a wade, so not really worth the effort to get to.

Ellinjaa Falls was the most impressive of these three on the circuit, with wider falls, great swimminghole and plenty of room to sit and gaze. Access was also really good with a clearly marked pathway from the car park only taking a few minutes stroll.
This place is perfect for getting afternoon photos of the falls if you want slow exposures to get beautiful silky water shots, as the area is quite shadowy and dark due to the semi circular nature of the falls and trees providing cover from the harsh daylight.

Heres two shots, first one fast shutter at 1/160 sec the second one it was dark enough to slow right down to 1/13th sec using a flat rock as my tripod.

Great outdoor shower!
